You may receive a "Password Incorrect" message on your iPhone if you attempt to check your voicemail after changing your password on your provider's website or by talking with a customer service representative. This happens because your iPhone continues to store your old password in its memory, causing the login process to fail. Access the Settings screen on your iPhone to reset your voicemail password. You can also change your voicemail password directly from your iPhone without logging in to your provider's Web interface.
Push the "Home" button on the front of the iPhone to minimize any running applications and return to the Home screen.
Tap the "Settings" icon on the Home screen to display the iPhone's Settings menu.
Tap "Phone" next to the green telephone icon to access the iPhone's telephony settings.
Tap the "Change Voicemail Password" button to display a new screen.
Enter your current voicemail password and tap the "Done" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Type the desired password on the numeric keypad and tap the "Done" button in the upper right corner of the screen when you are finished. The iPhone displays the message "Password Saved."
Confirm that the new voicemail password works correctly by checking your voicemail. Push the "Home" button to return to the Home screen. Tap the "Phone" icon at the bottom of the Home screen and then tap the "Voicemail" icon to check your voicemail.
- If you have forgotten your voicemail password, your iPhone will display the message "Password Incorrect" during the password reset process. Tap the question mark to call your mobile phone carrier and speak to a representative who will assist you.
- Resetting your voicemail password from your iPhone requires support for the Visual Voicemail feature. If you do not have Visual Voicemail, contact your carrier's customer service department or log in to the carrier's website to reset your voicemail password.
